AI photo calorie counter

Snap the plate. Check the numbers. Log it.

Take a photo of what you are about to eat. Day Pal names each food on the plate, estimates the portion and works out calories, protein, carbs and fat. You correct anything it got wrong, then add it to your diary.

Photo scan result with each food on the plate tagged, its calories, and a button to add them to the diary

How it works

Point the camera at your plate or pick a photo you already took. The AI tags each item it can see with a name, a portion and its calories. Tap Adjust on an item to refine its portion, or tap the item to leave it out. Nothing reaches your diary until you add it.

How accurate is it?

It is an estimate from the photo alone, so it will not be right every time. Portions are the hard part: a photo cannot weigh food. Treat the result as a fast first draft you confirm. When you correct a portion, Day Pal remembers it for next time.

What it costs

Every device gets 10 free AI actions, once: a photo scan, a voice or text log, or a coach question each count as one. Day Pal Pro makes AI logging unlimited. Food search and manual logging stay free either way. Fair use applies

What happens to the photo

The app re-encodes the photo before it leaves your phone, which strips the location and every other tag. On our side it is analysed, then dropped: we never store meal photos.

Not in the mood for a photo?

Say what you ate, or type it the way you would text a friend: “two eggs, toast with butter and a flat white”. Day Pal turns it into diary entries. Speech is recognised on your phone, not sent to us as audio.

Questions people ask

Can an app count calories from a photo?

Yes, as an estimate. Day Pal identifies each food in the photo and estimates its portion, then shows calories and macros you can correct before logging.

Is the photo calorie counter free?

Every device gets 10 free AI actions, once, and a photo scan is one action. After that, photo logging needs Day Pal Pro. Searching foods and logging by hand are free with no limit.

Do you keep my meal photos?

No. Meal photos are analysed and then dropped. They are never stored on our servers, and the location is removed before the photo is sent.

Free to start

No card and no trial to cancel. Food search and manual logging are free for good, and every device gets 10 free AI actions.
